Daniel Greene

Daniel E. Greene is one of America’s leading portrait painters and one of the foremost pastel artists in the United States. His work is represented in more than 700 public and private collections. Mr. Greene’s list of portrait subjects includes leaders of American industry, banking, education and government.

He is the author of two definitive books, Pastel and The Art of Pastel both in print for 25 years (published worldwide in French, Italian, German, Chinese, Spanish and English). He has received virtually every major award and medal in national exhibitions and has served on the faculty of the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League of New York.

In 1983 Mr. Greene was elected to the Pastel Society of America Hall of Fame. Mr. Greene continues the tradition of outstanding Painter/Teachers. His studies were with Robert Brakman who in turn studied with George Bellows and Robert Henri.

Mr. Greene has been teaching for over 50 years and is generous in passing on information in private workshops and in his own studio in North Salem, NY. He has taught over 10,000 students and his books and videos have reached in excess of 100,000 artists worldwide.
