Vernal Falls, Yosemite Valley National Park Travel with Stefan Baumann to Vernal Falls in Yosemite Valley National Park located in beautiful central California. In this episode of The Grand View, Stefan will take you step-by-step through the painting process, from sketching the scene to the finished piece. This is a wonderful instruction on how to paint falling water, starting with the darkest areas and working into the highlights. You will use a limited palette of burnt sienna, cobalt blue, viridian green, a touch of cadmium yellow, and white. He also shows how he uses his medium mix of turpentine and linseed oil. Further, he addresses the problem of changing light when working outdoors.

Manzanita Lake, Lassen Volcanic National Park Stefan Bauman takes you to Manzanita Lake in the north-western tip of Lassen Volcanic National Park, found in spectacular Shasta County, California. In this episode, Stefan will show you how to use the haze in a scene to enhance your project. Using his usual limited palette of burnt sienna, ultra-marine blue, white, viridian green and cadmium yellow medium, he will spend time showing how to concentrate on your composition, and not so much on detail to create a very emotional painting. Further, you will learn that instead of adding paint on top of paint, you want to start finishing the painting from the beginning of the sketch.
